EMPO Members and Meet Attendees- The
weather turned out to be surprisingly pleasant today. Only the course
setters had to deal with any rain; by the time folks started out, the
rain had stopped, though it was a bit warm and humid. Hayes Nature Park is a small town park in the southern area of Clifton Park, rather small for advanced courses, newly mapped by Bill Jameson and Eric Hamilton. Bill
set an interesting array of courses, so you could go long (doing
some street-O, and shuffling three maps), medium (all 21 Park controls in any order), or short (all within Hayes
Park), which gave everyone a chance to do what worked for them. Sorry I missed a chance to visit with some folks who managed to arrive, complete their course, and leave, while I was still out hiking on the long Red course. Our next event is Saturday, May 24, at Grafton Lakes State Park. Grafton is completely different terrain from Hayes, which should make for a nice contrast. I don’t think the lake is open for swimming by then (and it would be pretty cold if it was), but you should be able to at least cool your feet in the water. MD: Bill Jameson, Eric Hamilton
