Registration is now open for the 34th Billygoat Run hosted this year by EMPO, to be held Sunday, April 29, at Moreau Lake State Park. Mass start at 11 am.
For those who don't know, "goat"-style races are long, mass-start races, typically 10-15 km. The expected winning time (fastest runner) is 90-95 minutes. All competitors who complete the race within 3 hours 30 minutes receive a commemorative T-shirt.
For the first time in Billygoat history we are offering online registration with online payment (via PayPal) and online waivers (however, for Billygoat participants under age 18, we will need a signed paper waiver).
Because of Moreau's terrain, this race is for experienced orienteers only (who typically run advanced level courses). Recreational courses also will be offered, with starting times between 11 am and 12:30 pm.
In addition, to support the U.S. orienteering teams, we are helping the U.S. senior team set up the 2nd Annual Speedy Goat on Saturday, April 28, at Peebles Island State Park. The Speedy Goat will be a two-person team sprint relay (members of the team alternately run two separate sprints), and there will be prizes for various handicap categories. The mass start for this race will be at 2 pm.
